Our class is made up of 10 students this year who need some extra help with their learning.  We have 7 boys and 3 girls this year. Most of us have been together for a long while so we are all good buddies. Next year two students will be leaving us to go to High school but we will get some new students in. We are put into groups in our class for different subjects so that everybody gets to work at their level. We are really lucky to have our teacher and a teacher’s aide so we get lots of help. We join in everything all the other classes do. Some of us are Peer Group leaders; some play PSSA sport; some are in the choir; some in the dance group; we regularly run our school assemblies; and one of our students is a prefect this year.

We have lots of fun and have been on some really good excursions. We have walked across the Harbour Bridge; explored the Botanical Gardens; been to the IMAX theatre twice; had a ‘behind the scenes’ tour of the airport and raced a jumbo jet in our bus; visited the Sydney Aquarium; participated in a workshop at the Art Gallery; went on a three day trip to Canberra and the snow; and had a sleep over at the zoo where we got to go into some enclosures to feed the animals.  

We have had lots of fun doing some fundraising.  Three times Dee Why Pizza Hut has donated 30 pizzas to us so that we can sell them to everyone at school and raise money.  Kentucky Fried also gave us 300 pieces of chicken which we sold.  We have had two “Ice Cream” days where we sell ice creams to raise money for the Starlight Foundation.

We enjoy being part of the Dee Why School Community and our class have several projects to look after.  We are in charge of the plants in A block so have to water them and rotate them every few weeks. We have also prepared and then painted several pieces of furniture so that our classroom is bright and colourful. We are in charge of updating the external school notice board every Friday. Now we are busy making some playground markings so that all the students will have more things to play at recess and lunch.  We have been doing the Typequik touch typing program this year and have become quite good at typing. We have helped some other classes get started as well.

We enjoy being in 3-6C at Dee Why. We will be sad when some of our class go off to High School next year but we are looking forward to getting some new students in our class.
